The Waikato, home of the world renowned movie set Hobbiton, is blessed by a country-side that is reminiscent of the rolling tree-lined hills in central Tuscany. This region is full of rural and beach-side New Zealand landscape photography locations. New Zealand farmland at its best, with misty mornings heralding in the new day, calm under golden sunrises. Locations like this are hard to find anywhere else in New Zealand. And then there's Raglan, where some of the best surf beaches the country can be found - all together these locations make the Waikato a truely enticing place to visit.

Some Detail about Waikato Landscape Photography
The Waikato Region with it's urban hub of Hamilton provides a fantastic New Zealand landscape photography mix - Hamilton Gardens, surrounded by beautiful rolling hill country near the Hobbiton Movie Set, powerful lines of surf at Raglan Beach's famous surf breaks, Bridal Veil Falls, Te Waihou Walkway and Blue Springs, and more. And then there's Night Sky Photography easily accessible on sections of the Waikato River in the Karapiro Horahora Domain area.
There's a location to photograph at most times of the night or day in the Waikato - a lavender farm, paddocks of sunflowers, and cherry blossoms in spring adding to the landscape photography treasures in this region
I have much to explore in this area. It is only an hours drive away from home, over the Kaimai Ranges, and I am excited to make the most of the landscape photography locations that are so close to home. And when travelling over the Kaimais to take in the magnificent sunsets on view from the Kaimai Lookout.
