Qatar Landscape Photography
The heat in Qatar in October is manageable, just. Sights to see are plentiful with four outstanding locations during our visit- the bustling and colourful Souk Waqif, the amazingly ultra modern and uncrowded metro system, the blazing nightlights, and the incredible National Museum of Qatar with its amazing architectural inspiration gained from the desert rose rock formation - A desert rose is an intricate rose-like formation of crystal clusters of gypsum or baryte, which include abundant sand grains. The "petals" are crystals flattened on the c axis, fanning open in radiating clusters. The resulting rosette crystal habit tends to occur when the crystals form in arid sandy conditions such as the evaporation of a shallow salt basin. The crystals form a circular array of flat plates, giving the rock a shape similar to a rose blossom. - it was a two night stay packed with sight-seeing and exciting urban and landscape photography images.
