Hi I’m Kevin Prince
"I love being in nature pursuing the challenge and fun of capturing magical images and sharing them.  My aim is to capture beautiful Landscape and Night Sky images from New Zealand and International locations – and then by sharing these images encourage others to get out amongst this wonderful landscape and to take a peek at the incredible skies above.

I was brought up working on arable and hill country farms in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region.  This upbringing; together with pursuing surfing, hiking and skiing; developed my love of nature and the outdoors - and all of these activities contributed to my passion for creating stunning photographic images of these environments.

My work is centered on the awe inspiring feeling that stunning nature scenes evoke. And I thoroughly enjoy the ongoing pursuit to capture magical light in the stillness of nature, and in the fleeting moments of time."

Kevin Prince New Zealand Photographer.
I’ve been taking photographs all my life.
A childhood gift of a  new Kodak Instamatic camera, from my hard-working parents, launched me into the field of photography and I became excited about capturing images on film.  I have built my photographic skills over many decades and am eternally grateful that the excitement and passion has persisted.  This passion has become a full-time pursuit that consumes many hours focused on producing magical, high quality, landscape and night sky images.  It's a wonderful thing as it means I am seeking out photographic subjects in the most beautiful nature locations; for the sheer joy of being in nature, for the photographic pursuit, and for the pleasure of sharing these experiences and images with others.  My intention is to capture amazing New Zealand images from across the country,  to share them with those that follow me, and to make them available for purchase.
Learning this craft and honing photography skills is an ongoing process that never ends due to the constant changes in technology and equipment, which means that a love of learning is part of the package. My background photography skills, while self taught, were greatly added to by completing a Photography Major at Palmerston North Teachers College where I spent many hours developing both colour and black & white images in the College photographic lab.  And they have also been enhanced by a number of professional online and in person photography mentoring courses.

My love of nature and the outdoors means all my images are from real places that often take some effort to reach.   However, with some planning and determination, they are all places that my website visitors can travel to themselves.

Some Info About Me
  • Beach time is fun time, and I always look forward to the summer at Mount Maunganui Beach with family and friends.
  • I love coffee outings with my very tolerant wife and daughters (of whom there are three - all grown up and out in the big wide world)
  • It's great fun chasing my two grandsons about, both of whom live in Australia.
  • I have had three varied careers - as a permanent fire-fighter, a primary teacher and an executive in the NZ Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • My career background was based on professional qualifications of Grad. of the Institute of Fire Engineers (UK), an arts degree in Social Science, two post grad. diplomas: one in Education, the other in Training and Development, and a Dip. Tchg. (Photography Major)
  • I started to learn to play the saxophone but my fingers seized up so I concentrated on photography!
  • I love the excitement of travel: Santorini, Greece and the Isle of Skye are two of my favourite memories!
  • However, blissing out in front of TV and watching a good movie at home is hard to beat!

I just love the colours in the 'Sinking Suns Reflection' image of the three sisters sea stacks and they're now hanging proudly on my wall. The print quality is also fantastic! I will be recommending you to all my family & friends. Thank you!"

"Kevins breathtaking photos made it difficult to choose a favourite, but we eventually decided on ‘SILENT PEACE Lake Alexandrina due to its beautiful colours and peaceful setting. Kevin was really helpful with choosing the size that would best suit our space.
The process of ordering, printing and postage was seamless, it was reassuring that the photo arrived well packaged and was a signature required tracked service. Once opened we were amazed at the quality of the printing and colours. Thank you Kevin for your beautiful work."
